WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley men's soccer advanced to the NE10 Championship finals with a penalty kick win over Adelphi in the semifinals on Wednesday afternoon.

The Falcons will host the championship game on Saturday against either Southern New Hampshire or Franklin Pierce.

After 110 minutes of regulation and overtime, the #1 seed Falcons and #4 seed Panthers were tied 1-1. Bentley then won the penalty kick shootout, 4-2, to advance to the NE10 finals for the first time since 2017.

In the fifth round of the shootout, Wynn Hammond scored the clinching goal to send Bentley through to the finals.

With Bentley shooting first, both teams scored in the first round. The second round saw both teams fail to convert.

Tied 1-1 in the third round, Michael Haikal scored to give Bentley a 2-1 lead. Falcons goalkeeper Cam Hall then denied Adelphi's Ryan Holt to maintain the lead.

At the start of the fourth round Parker Higgins scored to give Bentley a 3-1 lead. Adelphi needed to score to stay alive and Richard DeBrosse converted to send it to the fifth round.

At the start of the fifth round, Hammond was called upon and he delivered the winning goal with a shot to the left that eluded the dive of keeper Andrea Farinella.

Regulation saw neither team score in the first half for a 0-0 score at halftime.

But in the 52nd minute Lukas Drahos put Bentley in front with his seventh goal of the season, assisted by Antonio Santos and Logan Veloria.

Michael Gouvin got the play started with a pass from the right wing that Veloria got a touch on to Santos in front who scuffed a shot, but Drahos pounced on the rebound for the goal.

Adelphi tied the game in the 63rd minute on a goal by Agustin Soldo, who redirected a centering pass from Sam Nolan.

The Falcons, ranked 11th nationally, improved to 11-1-4 on the season.

HOOKSET, N.H. (11/12/25) - In the semifinals of the NE10 Men's Soccer Championship, the #3 Ravens traveled to #2 Southern New Hampshire University. In an intense matchup between the two teams, Guillermo Avendaño (Luanco, Spain) would shine for the Ravens offense, completing a 3-2 victory over the Penmen.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Ravens would open the game quickly. In the 16th minute, Stepan Fiker (Prague, Czech Republic) would cross the ball over to Guillermo Avendaño (Luanco, Spain) who took a quick touch around a SNHU defender and drilled the ball into the back of the net.
  • Only a few minutes later though would the Penmen respond. Martin Zapata would dribble through traffic in the box, finding the right shot to tie the game up.
  • Not wanting to go into halftime even, Borja Blazquez (Toledo, Spain) would capitalize on a free kick in SNHU territory, feeding the ball to Julen Martin (Bilbao, Spain), who found Manuel Lorenzo (Buenos Aires, Argentina) on the outside for his first goal of the season.
  • In the second half, the Penmen found the equalizer when Tyler Kraft's shot just went past David Skorodumov (Ashland, Mass.).
  • With both teams in need of a game-winner, DJ Tucker (Hopedale, Mass.) would find Avendaño for his second goal of the night, netting the ball right past the Penmen goalkeeper for the lead.
  • With the minutes dwindling down for the Penmen, they tried to stay in the game, but the Ravens defense held strong, earning them a ticket to the NE10 Championship.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • The Penmen outshot the Ravens, 17-10.
  • Skorodumov made 8 saves.
  • Avendaño led the team with 4 shots.
