NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - For the first time since 1999 a Bentley Falcon is the Northeast 10 Men's Soccer Player of the Year. Senior midfielder Michael Haikal, an All-NE10 Third Team selection in 2024, was voted by the league's coaches as its top player this fall after scoring seven goals and leading Bentley to its first NE10 regular season title since 1995.
Haikal's honor is the first for a Falcon since Luis-Carlos Jimenez a fall before Y2K. Lucas Jaramillo was named Player of the Year in both 1994 and 1995 for the Falcons, the school's lone two-time winner. Haikal is the fifth Falcon to win the NE10's top award.
Haikal, however, wasn't the only Falcon celebrated by the coach's votes. Graduate student Cam Hall was voted Goalkeeper of the Year and senior back Luke Mollenhauer was named Defensive Player of the Year. Coach Gary Crompton was named NE10 Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons.
Hall was consistently one of the top shot-stoppers in the conference this fall. A Division-I transfer who has thrived in his two years in Waltham, Hall led the conference in save percentage and goals against average this fall. It was his best collegiate season. Hall is Bentley's third top-voted NE10 goalie and fist since Mike Nikiforov in 2010.
Mollenhauer becomes the first Falcon to be dubbed the conference's top defender since Luke Hanchar in 2023. He's the third Bentley Defensive Player of the Year in history. Bentley's defense has been elite all fall. The Falcons have allowed more than a single goal in just two games in 2025.
The lone conference major honor awarded to a non-Falcon was NE10 Rookie of the Year. Stepan Fiker led Franklin Pierce's backline to allow the second-fewest goals in the conference, conceding only 15 all fall.
Each all-conference team is made up of 13 student-athletes. There are four from each the forward, midfield and back positions and then a single goaltender. The entire first team is constructed from the league's top three teams: Bentley, SNHU and Franklin Pierce, which led the way with five selections. SNHU received the most all-conference namings total, placing 11 student-athletes across the league's three teams with two more landing on the All-Rookie Team.
