NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Northeast 10 Conference had nine players named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Super Region One Team on Thursday, as announced on Thursday afternoon.
Franklin Pierce linebacker Geno Facchetti highlighted NE10 selections by being named Defensive Player of the Year - the first Ravens' player to ever win the honor. Facchetti, also the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year, had 9.0 sacks and 15.5 tackles for a loss this season while averaging 6.2 tackles per game. He was also chosen as a member of the Division II/III All-New England Team.
Joining Facchetti on the All-Region First Team was his teammate, Damir Stone, as well as Bentley's Pat Damon and Assumption's Jack Driscoll and Tindell Frick. Driscoll was selected as NE10 Offensive Lineman of the Year and Frick was the NE10 Defensive Lineman of the Year. Among Second Team honorees were Assumption's Owen Fitzgerald and Connor Smith, Bentley's Henry Schouten and Pace's Jhamier Howard.
Assumption had a league-high four players named All-Region, while Bentley and Franklin Pierce each had two. Overall, four NE10 football programs were represented on All-Region teams. The NE10 had five players on the First Team, the second-most of all Super Region One conferences.
It is the fourth time in the past five seasons that the NE10 has produced at least nine players on the D2CCA All-Super Region One teams, which includes teams from the NE10, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and the Mountain East Conference (MEC).
The D2CCA encourages and promotes DII athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact DII intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA DII member colleges and universities.
