NE10 Championship Central
MANSFIELD, Mass. - The Saint Anselm men's lacrosse team completed the second perfect regular season in school history Saturday, grabbing the Northeast-10 regular season championship and No. 1 seed in the league's Championship. The Hawks clinched the title with their 15-12 win over Pace, grabbing the No. 1 seed for the second time (2021).
St. Anselm's last No. 1 seed followed a 10-0 NE10 season in 2021. Being the year after the COVID-19 pandemic, not every game was played and both St. Anselm and Le Moyne finished unbeaten without seeing each other in the regular season. The Dolphins won the conference crown in a one vs. two championship game.
The Hawks are followed by Adelphi as the No. 2 seed. The two teams played to a three-goal game in Manchester earlier this month in their previous meeting. Pace picks up the No. 3 seed having only lost to the top two teams and Assumption - the team that gave St. A's an overtime battle - sits in fouth. Bentley and SNHU round out the field with the Penmen qualifying after their Saturday win over AIC.
Only four NE10 teams have won the conference's championship since Pace last finished the bracket in 1999. Over that span Le Moyne won 15 titles, Adelphi five, Merrimack three, and Bryant one.
NE10 Championship competition begins at the site of the higher seed next Saturday, April 26th. The league semifinals follow on April 30th and the Championship final will be May 3rd.
