St. Anselm Upsets No. 2 Adelphi for First Win Over Panthers Ever

NE10 Player of the Week

Chris Claflin, St. Anselm
Junior | A I Newton, Mass.


Claflin helped the Hawks improve to 8-0 after another 2-0 week. He scored two goals and dished out seven assists in the two games, scoring one goal with two assists in a 15-8 win at Saint Michael's on Wednesday and followed that up with a massive six-point performance in the program's first ever win over No. 2 Adelphi on Saturday.

Claflin contributed on six of the team's nine goals vs. the Panthers.  He scored once and dished out a career-high five assists.  Now leading the team and fourth in the NE10 with 18 assists this season, Claflin is also leading the team and ranking ninth in the NE10 with 27 points.


NE10 Defensive Player of the Week

Trent Sargent, Assumption
Junior I D I Hebron, Conn.


Sargent was dominant in two wins for Assumption on the week. Against Franklin Pierce on Wednesday, he forced two turnovers while scooping up six ground balls in a 13-2 win. Sargent capped off the week with six a turnover performance at Saint Michael's College in a 9-5 win. He headlines the nation's second-best scoring defense that allowed 3.50 goals against average in two wins.  This is his second weekly honor of the year.


NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week

Finn Granara, Saint Anselm
Sophomore | Reading, Mass.

Now the back-to-back Goalie of the Week, Granara led the Hawks to another 2-0 week. Combined to make 22 saves and allowing only 13 goals (.629 save percentage) in the two games, he made nine saves and allowed seven goals for a in a 15-8 win over Saint Michael's on Wednesday and made 13 saves and allowed just six goals in the program's first ever win over No. 2 Adelphi on Saturday.  In that win Granara helped shutout the Panthers in the first half after Adelphi entered the game No. 3 nationally in scoring.


NE10 Rookie of the Week

Shane Corcoran, Assumption
Freshman | GK I East Sandwich, Mass.

Corcoran continued his strong freshman campaign as he went 2-0 on the week, where he supported a 79.3 save percentage and a 3.43 goals against average. He opened the week with a 13-save performance against Franklin Pierce, only allowing one goal in 45 minutes of action. Corcoran capped off the week with ten saves at Saint Michael's College in a 10-5 win.
