BACK-TO-BACK! Adelphi Claims NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Title

Panthers Defeat Previously-Unbeaten Tampa in Overtime.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Adelphi secured its second-straight NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Championship on Sunday at Gillette Stadium with a thrilling 9-8 overtime win against previously-unbeaten Tampa, as Kyle Lewis - the USILA Outstanding Midfielder of the Year - scored the game-winning goal.

Just one minute and 19 seconds into overtime, Lewis scored his second goal of the game to help the Panthers (19-1, 7-1 NE10) win the ninth NCAA title in program history.

Vincent McDermott had a five-point game for Adelphi, which included four goals, while goalkeeper Dylan Renner had a masterful 14-save outing - including a pair in the final three minutes of regulation - to send the game to an extra period. Renner was previously named USILA Most Outstanding Player for the second-consecutive season.

Trailing 5-4 at halftime, Adelphi outscored Tampa, 4-2, in the third quarter to take a lead into the fourth. Tampa tied the game, 8-8, with 6:02 remaining in regulation. The final minutes produced a scoreless result, setting the stage for overtime and Lewis' game-winner.

Adelphi becomes the first NE10 men's lacrosse team since Merrimack (2018, 2019) to win back-to-back national titles. Overall, it is just the sixth program in any sport in conference history to repeat as national champions.

It is the second national title for Adelphi men's lacrosse as a member of the NE10.
