Bentley's Burmester Adds Academic All-America Status

NE10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year Keeps Winning

NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA. - Bentley senior Caitlin Burmester made a habit of running away with races this season, and she continues to run away with more awards as we head into the summer.  Burmester, the NE10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was named an Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators (CSC) this week.

Burmester led Bentley's women's cross country team to its first-ever Northeast 10 title. She was named the NE10 Runner of the Year. Shortly thereafter, Burmester won the NCAA East Regional individual title. In turn, she was named the East Region Runner of the Year by USTFCCCA.

Between the indoor and outdoor track & field NE10 Championships, Burmester totaled six medals; four gold.

The senior received the NE10 Sport Excellence Award three times during her senior year (cross country, indoor track & field, outdoor track & field).

Thirteen of the 45 members of the Academic All-America® Division II women's track and field/cross country teams sport a sterling 4.00 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 15 first team members have an average undergraduate GPA of 3.94.
