Each week during the academic year, the NE10 honors
Athletes of the Week for all of its 24 sponsored sports while they are in season. Faces in the Crowd shines a spotlight on outstanding on-field performances that didn't earn Athlete of the Week recognition, while also highlighting academic or community efforts from student-athletes across the league.
Faces in the Crowd is presented by Athletic Solutions, a national leader in NIL fan engagement and e-commerce technology, collaborating with colleges and universities to bring NIL Locker Rooms
to life. Their platform simplifies NIL opportunities, providing student-athletes with the tools and exposure needed to thrive in the evolving landscape of college athletics.
Below are this week's
NE10 Faces in the Crowd.
Brendan Lynch
School: SNHU
Sport: Ice Hockey
Lynch posted a hat trick against Rivier last week, helping lead SNHU to a 6-4 win that saw the Penman score four goals in the third period and three goals in the final four minutes on the ice. The game marks Lynch's first multi-goal performance of the season and gives him seven scores for the year -- one off a career high.
Jayla Tyler
School: Saint Michael's
Sport: Basketball
Tyler pulled in 18 rebounds (and 13 points) for a double-double against Adelphi last week. The rebounding performance was the second-best day on the glass in the conference this winter and marked a careerhigh for the 5-9 junior.
Margaret Montplaisir
School: Saint Michael's
Sport: Basketball
Montplaisir continues her breakout season heading into 2026. She scored 32 at SNHU last week - most in a single game in the conference this winter. The sophomore was 6-10 from behind the arc, giving her a third game this season over 20 points.
Rafael Kowal
School: Saint Michael's
Sport: Swimming and Diving
Kowal picked up his 60th individual race win for the Purple Knights last week vs. SUNY-Potsdam, setting the Saint Michael's record. Kowal set that mark in the same meet that his head coach, Eileen Hall, became the winningest swimming and diving coach in SMC history.
Rheyna Steinauer
School: Southern Connecticut State
Sport: Basketball
Steinauer became the first women's basketball player in the NE10 to drop 30 points in a game multiple times this season when she scored 30 on SNHU. The guard shot 12-23 and 4-8 from three while also hauling in seven rebounds (four offensive).

The NE10 is an association of 10 diverse institutions serving student-athletes across 24 NCAA Division II sports. Together we build brilliant futures by embracing the journey of every student-athlete.
Each year, 4,500 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 24 sports, making the NE10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the NE10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
