GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - ?The goalkeeper for the No. 1 team in the country has a story you just can't replicate. Christian Tomei began college career as a high school all-American, signed to Ohio State. He then transferred to Jacksonville to play for all-American keeper John Galloway.
Then Tomei was out of the game, valeting cars, working toward being a body builder and searching for his place.
That was until one day when Tomei realized he needed to be back in the game. That led Tomei to NAIA Keiser -- where he won a national title -- and then DII Belmont Abbey -- where he tore his achilles after 10 games -- and finally to national champion Adelphi. It's a story worthy of a movie for the 25-year-old.
