New Haven Punches Ticket to NCAA Division II Football Championship

Chargers Won Second-Straight NE10 Title on Saturday

MANSFIELD, Mass. - New Haven heard its name called on Sunday night, as the NCAA announced its field for the Division II Football Championship. Just one day after winning its second-straight Northeast-10 Conference title, New Haven qualified for the NCAA Championship for the fourth-consecutive season.

The Chargers (8-2, 7-1 NE10) earned the No. 5 seed in Super Region One and will travel to play No. 4 Slippery Rock in first round action on Saturday at 1 p.m. It will be a rematch of the 2024 season-opening game, when New Haven lost 22-7 at Slippery Rock, which was ranked No. 11 nationally.

Following that loss, New Haven went on a five-game winning streak and ended the season on a three-game winning streak to capture the sixth NE10 title in program history.

Top-seeded Kutztown will be waiting for the winner of the New Haven-Slippery Rock matchup, with the second round of the NCAA Division II Championship scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 30. New Haven has advanced to the second round on four occasions since joining the NE10 (2011, 2012, 2018, 2021).
