Top Finalists Announced for NE10 Man and Woman of the Year Awards

NE10 Banquet is on Tuesday, June 4.


MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference announced its list of finalists for the Man and Woman of the Year awards on Monday morning - choosing the top three candidates for each honor among the 25 institutional nominations previously announced on May 6.
 

Finalists for the NE10 Man and Woman of the Year awards represent six different schools and six different sports. The announcement of award recipients will be made the night of Tuesday, June 4, as part of the NE10 Banquet at the Sheraton Needham. 
 

The NE10 Man and Woman of the Year awards honor student-athletes for their excellence in competition, in the classroom and in the community. The Woman of the Year award winner will be forwarded to the NCAA for its National Woman of the Year award, serving as the NE10's nomination.
 

Each of the league's 12 member institutions nominated at least one student-athlete for each award.

NE10 Man of the Year Finalists
 

Connor Everidge, Franklin Pierce
Sport: Men's Track & Field
Undergraduate Major: Elementary Education
Undergraduate GPA: 3.91
Graduate Major: MBA Leadership
Graduate GPA: 4.00
 

Everidge, a four-time team captain, is both an accomplished athlete and academic at Franklin Pierce. He is a two-time NE10 champion (weight throw, hammer throw) and the 2022 NE10 Elite 24 Award winner. He is a five-time selection on the CSC Academic All-District Team and a nine-time NE10 Academic Honor Roll recipient. Everidge won the 2023 NE10 Sport Excellence Award for indoor track & field. He has earned a 4.0 GPA in his graduate program (MBA in Leadership) and has given his time on campus through serving as a two-time SAAC Co-Chair and two-time President of the Justice in Action Alliance. 

Marshall Murphy, Saint Michael's
Sport: Ice Hockey
Undergraduate Major: Economics & Business Administration
Undergraduate GPA: 3.82
 

Murphy, the 2023 NE10 Goaltender of the Year, has enjoyed a well-balanced career at Saint Michael's - which includes an NE10 Sport Excellence Award (2023) and a nod to the CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team. In addition to serving as Vice President of the Real Estate Club on campus, he has also been an active member of Hope Happens Here (HHH) - a mental health awareness organization led by student-athletes on campus. Other community initiatives include the LGBTQ+ Pride Parade, Adaptive Hockey Day and City of Little Canada Baseball. 

Connor Skarzynski, Southern Connecticut
Sport: Men's Swimming & Diving
Undergraduate Major: Political Science (Minor in Communications and Public Relations)
Undergraduate GPA: 3.77
 

Skarzynski, a captain of the multi-time NE10 champion SCSU men's swimming & diving program, has earned a 3.77 GPA as a Political Science major. He has held multiple leadership roles as President and Founder of the SCSU Outing Club and President of SCSU Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa. As a member of the Outing Club, he has taken part in trail cleanups, while assisting with food drives, clothes drives and packing lunches for people in need as a part of Omicron Delta Kappa Service Week. 
 


NE10 Woman of the Year Finalists
 

Morgan Salmon, Adelphi
Sport: Women's Soccer
Undergraduate Major: Nursing
Undergraduate GPA: 3.845
 

Salmon - a three-time team captain - had a special year for Adelphi women's soccer, helping the team advance to the NCAA Division II national semifinals after winning the East Region championship title. She was named the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference, as well as the NE10 Sport Excellence Award winning for women's soccer. Salmon was named All-Region First Team and All-America Second Team by both the D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches. In the classroom, Salmon's achievements earned her CSC First Team Academic All-America status. She is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee on campus and served as the team's Morgan's Message Mental Health Ambassador for three years. 

Caroline O'Connell, Assumption
Sport: Field Hockey/Women's Lacrosse
Undergraduate Major: Biology
Undergraduate GPA: 3.923
 

O'Connell was a member of the 2023 NCAA Division II Field Hockey All-Tournament Team, after helping Assumption reach the national semifinals. A multi-sport athlete in both field hockey and women's lacrosse, O'Connell is a three-time NFHCA National Academic Squad recipient, three-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction and a two-time member of the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. She is a three-time selection to the NE10 Academic All-Conference team and was most recently named a Second Team All-Conference pick in women's lacrosse following the 2024 season. O'Connell is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success on campus and won the Assumption Biology Department Major Award for highest GPA in her major. 

Angelina Porcello, Pace
Sport: Women's Lacrosse
Undergraduate Major: Childhood Education (Mathematics Concentration)
Undergraduate GPA: 3.70
Graduate Major: MSE Childhood Education (Mathematics Concentration)
 

Porcello served as team captain of the reigning NCAA Division II national champion Pace women's lacrosse program in 2024, just one year removed from being named the IWLCA Division II Player of the Year and First Team All-American. She is a two-time First Team All-American, a three-time First Team All-Conference selection and a two-time NE10 Midfielder of the Year. Off the field, Porcello has served as a student teacher and as a One Love Ambassador - educating teammates and the community about the One Love Foundation and domestic violence awareness. For the last four years, she has also worked as a volunteer youth lacrosse coach.
