Now in his 20th season, Southern Connecticut State University head coach Tim Quill is the architect of the most successful men's and women's swimming & diving program in Northeast 10 history. Since 2003, Quill has guided both programs to a combined 26 NE10 team championships – 13 on each side - with his student-athletes claiming more-than 500 NE10 individual championships.

Quill is a 24-time Northeast 10 Conference Coach of the Year after earning six Metropolitan Conference Coach of the Year honors before the Owls joined their current conference. Quill has earned NE10 honors 12 times for each program.

Quill has garnered a reputation for his ability to develop his swimmers as he has coached 121 All-Americans, with 65 coming from the men's program and 56 from the women. In addition, Quill's student-athletes have earned 19 individual NCAA National Championships. The most notable being Ben Michaelson, (three-time NCAA Division II Swimmer of the Year), Kristen Frost (2008 NCAA Division II Swimmer of the Year), Amanda Thomas (two-time NCAA Division II Swimmer of the Year) and Raymond Cswerko. Quill's swimmers have also rewritten the University and conference record books. Southern Connecticut swimmers have broken nearly 100 university records and seven NCAA Division II records during Quill's tenure.

Furthermore, Quill has coached 22 Conference Championship MVP's, 11 NE10 Freshmen of the Year and 19 NE10 Men's and Women's Swimmers of the Year. The Owls have had nearly 500 NE10 individual champions since the formation of the league championship in 2003.

Prior to his arrival at Southern Connecticut, Quill coached the Cheshire YMCA (1990-99) to a third place finish at the YMCA National Championships. On the individual front, he coached three YMCA national champions and over 100 YMCA All-Americans. Quill, a former member of the USA Swimming National Camps committee, was also a speaker at the American Swim Coaches Association world coaches' clinic in 2006 and is on the USA National Team coaches list.
