Adelphi Selected First in Men's Golf Pre-Championship Poll

Panthers Seek Second Title in Three Years.

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – When the Northeast 10 Conference Men's Golf Championship begins next week, Adelphi will enter as the favorite to win at Candia Woods Golf Links - according to the league's head coaches on Friday morning. 

Adelphi tallied 36 points and six first-place votes in the Men's Golf Pre-Championship Poll, edging second-place Assumption (31 points, one first-place vote) for the top spot. Mitchell Archer will lead the Panthers as the reigning Gordon McCullough Memorial Award Medalist, as his team seeks its second title in three years under head coach David Mattana. 

Completing the poll was Southern New Hampshire in third (25 points), Bentley in fourth (20 points), Saint Anselm in fifth (16 points), Franklin Pierce in sixth (11 points) and American International in seventh (8 points). 

Southern New Hampshire is the reigning NE10 champion, following its 15-stroke victory over runner-up Adelphi last fall. For the fourth-straight year, the NE10 Championship will be a 54-hole format to be played over two days (Oct. 8-9). 

Championship play will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, as 36 holes will be played. Tee times will begin on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. for the final 18 holes. Live score updates will be available on Clippd.
