CANDIA, N.H. - Behind a record-setting performance from Andrew Surprenant, Southern New Hampshire held off the field and won the Northeast 10 Conference Men's Golf Championship on Thursday for the second consecutive year at Candia Woods Golf Links. It is the sixth league title for the Penmen in program history. Surprenant, the Gordon McCullough Memorial Award Medalist, shot an eight-under (205) - which is the lowest 54-hole score since the NE10 Championship moved to a three-round format in 2022. His six-under (65) in Thursday's final round is the lowest 18-hole score in conference history. He tallied six birdies and one eagle en route to becoming individual medalist. The Penmen needed every bit of Surprenant's performance on Thursday, as they shot 19-over (871) as a team to hold off runner-up Adelphi at 23-over (875). It was the closest team finish since the 2022 NE10 Championship, when Assumption bested Southern New Hampshire by four strokes at the En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott, N.Y. Joining Surprenant in the Top 10 on the individual leaderboard from SNHU was Evan Rollins tied for seventh (seven-over, 220) and Sam Maurice tied for 10th (10-over, 223). Bentley's Jack Kantowski finished in second place among golfers by shooting even par (213), eight strokes back of Surprenant. Assumption finished in third place (+31), Bentley was fourth (+49), Franklin Pierce was fifth (+57), Saint Anselm was sixth (+60) and American International was seventh (+72). Franklin Pierce's Seth Saffell (three-over, 216), Adelphi's Mitchell Archer (four-over, 217) and Assumption's Chris Stilwell (five-over, 218) were also named to the All-Championship Team with Top 5 finishes. Southern New Hampshire graduate student Evan Rollins was named the Elite 24 Award winner, after recording a 3.991 GPA as an accounting major. The Elite 24 honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site of each NE10 Championship.
