Bentley's Haikal Chosen as National Scholar Player of the Year

Franklin Pierce's Huttunen Earns Second Team Nod.

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Bentley's Michael Haikal, the Northeast 10 Conference Player of the Year, was selected as National Scholar Player of the Year by United Soccer Coaches late last week for his outstanding work on the field and in the classroom. 

Franklin Pierce's Jenni Huttunen joined Haikal with Scholar All-American recognition, as she was named to the Second Team. Both Haikal and Huttunen were recently announced as Scholar All-Region honorees. 

Haikal led Bentley to its first regular season conference title since the 1995 season. He was a multi-time All-America selection this season, including First Team honors from United Soccer Coaches. Haikal was selected Third Team Academic All-America by College Sports Communicators (CSC). He is a Finance major with a 3.58 GPA. 

Huttunen helped lead the Ravens to a runner-up finish in the Division II Women's Soccer Championship. She was an All-Conference and All-Region selection this season. Huttunen is a Biology major with a 3.60 GPA.

Student-athletes on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Philadelphia, Pa., in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
