Adelphi Cleans Up NE10 Men's Swimming and Diving Awards

Panthers Take Three of Five Major Awards

MANSFIELD, Mass. - The Adelphi Panthers won every dual meet they swam this winter, were picked to win the NE10 Championship by the league's coaches and then had their best championship finish in school history.  It was a darn good season on Long Island, now capped by winning three major year-end awards.

For the second season in a row, Ryan Kakimseit was named NE10 Swimmer of the Year.  The first freshman to win the honor last season, Kakimseit continues his reign over the NE10.  He adds to his trophy case after being named Swimmer of the Meet at the NE10 Championship in February.

Tristan Weingarten was voted Freshman of the Year from Adelphi.  The rookie was the NE10 champion in the 400 Free Relay, 500 Free, 200 Free Relay and 400 Medley Relay.  He finished second at the NE10 Championship in the 800 Free Relay, 200 Free and 100 Free.

Finally, Mark Danin was voted Swimming Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

The College of Staten Island, competing in the NE10 for the second season, picked up a pair of postseason diving honors.  Freshman Yubal Parra was named NE10 Diver of the Year after winning the league crown in the one- and three-meter events.  He competed in both at the NCAA Championships and was named a First Team All-American.  Dolphins diving coach Anastasia Nicholson was named NE10 Diving Coach of the Year.
