Adelphi's Kakimseit Named Academic All-American

Sophomore Caps off Outstanding Start to AU Career

MANSFIELD, Mass. - NE10 Swimmer of the Year and Most Outstanding Swimmer at the NE10 Championship, Ryan Kakimseit now adds Academic All-American to his trophy case this season, named to the Second Team by College Sports Communicatiors on Wednesday.

Kakimseit, a 3.85 GPA Marketing Major, has begun his career on track for one of the best in Northeast-10 history.  The New York native repeated as the league's Swimmer of the Year, keeping him on track to potentially become the first student-athlete to claim that honor four times.  He's won 13 NE10 Championships in two seasons with the only medals he's racked up being made of gold.

Kakimseit is one of 32 swimming and diving student-athletes from across Division II named an Academic All-American.  He was one of nine to be named to the Second Team and one of only eight sophomores to appear on the list in DII.
