MANCHESTER, N.H. – For the second straight year, Adelphi was named the winner of the Northeast 10 Presidents Cup as announced at the conference's annual banquet on Tuesday night at Fratello's Events in the Millyard.
It is the sixth time that Adelphi has won the Presidents Cup, which is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the NE10. It is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points based upon overall regular season finishes in the team sports and final placement in the annual NE10 Championships in individual sports.
Adelphi also won the newly-named Founders Cup which honors excellence in men's athletics, while Bentley won the inaugural Pioneers Cup that celebrates excellence in women's athletics.
Chris Leonard, a cross country and track & field student-athlete, accepted the Presidents Cup on behalf of the Adelphi athletic department on Tuesday night. Danny McCabe, Director of Athletics at Adelphi, accepted the Founders Cup and Elizabeth Blinn, a Bentley volleyball student-athlete, accepted the Pioneers Cup.
In the Presidents Cup standings, Adelphi scored 144.5 points to edge Bentley (143.0) for the top spot. It is tied for the third-closest finish in Presidents Cup history, as two years (2005-06 and 2022-23) were determined by just a one-point margin. Southern New Hampshire placed third this year with 124.5 points.
Adelphi tallied 39.5 points this spring - the second-most among NE10 institutions - led by a regular season championship in men's tennis, as well as second-place finishes in men's and women's lacrosse. Only Saint Anselm recorded more points this spring (41.0), while Pace earned a league-best 81% of its possible spring total.
Throughout 2024-25, Adelphi totaled three regular season championships and finished among the top-three teams in 10 sports. Bentley earned maximum points in two sports and top-three finishes in nine sports.
In the Founders Cup standings, Adelphi finished with 62.0 points, while Bentley was second with 59.0 points and Franklin Pierce was third with 58.0 points. Adelphi claimed regular season championships in men's basketball and men's tennis, along with second-place finishes in men's golf, men's lacrosse and men's swimming & diving.
