Men's Ice Hockey 3/25/2026 4:00:00 PM Assumption's Surrette Named Finalist for DII/DIII National Player of the Year Surrette is One of Seven Finalists. NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass.— Assumption ice hockey junior Jonathan Surrette has been named as a finalist for the 2025-26 Sid Watson Division II/III National Player of the Year Award, as announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association last Friday. Seven players who have distinguished themselves on the ice in 2025-26 have been named finalists for the 2026 Sid Watson Award, given annually to the best NCAA Division II-III men's ice hockey player in the country. The finalists were selected by the nation's Division II-III head coaches in a preliminary vote held last week. Surrette became the all-time Northeast 10 Conference single-season leader in goals (34) and points (65) this season, while leading all NCAA players - across all divisions - in goals and points. His offensive outburst helped Assumption win both the NE10 regular season and tournament championships. Sponsored by the American Hockey Coaches Association, the Sid Watson Award honors the memory of former Bowdoin College head coach and athletic director Sid Watson. A three-time AHCA Coach of the Year, Watson served Bowdoin for more than 30 years, winning 326 games in 24 seasons as head coach. After a vote by the nation's head coaches this week, the recipient of this year's Sid Watson Award will be announced during this year's NCAA Division III Ice Hockey Frozen Four, which will be hosted by Utica University, from March 27-29.
