SCSU, Saint Anselm Collect Outdoor Track & Field Trophies

Owls Sweep Women's Honors While Hawks Take Home Pair of Men's Awards

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - After claiming both the Northeast 10 men's and women's outdoor track and field championships this spring, Southern Connecticut State added six more awards to the mantle Thursday, sweeping the women's year-end awards and winning men's Field Athlete of the Year.  League awards were nominated and voted on by the conference's nine head coaches.

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Men's
: Logan Montgomery, Saint Anselm

Consistantly one of the top performers in the NE10 during both the indoor and outdoor seasons.  Montgomery was the Most Valuable Performer at the league's outdoor championship this spring after winning three golds and a silver.  He won both the 200m and 400m in 21.0 and 46.81 seconds.  Montgomery was part of two Saint Anselm relays, winning the 4x100 and coming in second in in the 4x400.  He is the first Hawk to win this award since its inception in 2014.

Women's: Courtney Henchcliffe, SCSU

Henchcliffe caps a year that started with her returning from injury to win the NE10 cross country title.  She finished the season by winning the league's outdoor 5K by more than 20 seconds and also claiming silver in the 1500m.  Henchcliffe follows Hannah Caiola winning this award and is the third Owl to ever do so.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Men's
: Chris Amy, SCSU

Amy won the shotput at the NE10 Championship and finished second in the discus (to only his teammate Jayden Brown).  Amy ranked 31st nationally in the shot this season and best in the East Region.  Amy is the fourth Owl in five years to win this honor.  Jordan Davis, the runner-up at this year's SEC Championship, won the award in both 2023 and 2024.

Women's: Darla Jagrosse, SCSU

Jagrosse ends the year ranking second in the East Region in the shot and fourth in the discus.  She was the Most Outstanding Performer in the women's field events at the 2026 NE10 Championship.  She's the first Owl to capture this award since Destiny Coward in 2018.  Jagrosse won the discus and finished second in the shot at the conference outdoor championship.

TRACK ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Men's
: Colton Sallum, SCSU

Sallum had a fantastic debut season across cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field.  He wrapped his campaign by winning the 5K at NE10's in 15:02.85.

Women's: Djamilla Toukour, SCSU

Toukour finishes her rookies season third in the East Region in the 400m and she ran second at the NE10 Championship in the event (behind only her teammate, Avery Winters).  She was part of SCSU's bronze-medal winning 4x400 team at the NE10 Championship and also finished fifth in the 200m.  Toukour is the four Owl to win this award.

FIELD ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Men's
: Jabari Holder, Adelphi

An NCAA Championship participant in the triple jump during the indoor season, Holder continued his work into the spring.  The rookie won the triple jump, came in fifth in the long jump and 12th in the high jump.  Holder is the second Panther, and first since
Kevin Nalisa in 2019, to win Field Rookie of the Year.

Women's: Lily Quill, SCSU

Quill jumped 3.35m at the NE10 Championship to unseat her teammate and the defending champion, Maddie Hathorn, for the gold.  The jump was her best of the season and ranked her seventh in the region.  She is the first Owl since Destiny Coward in 2015 to win Field Rookie of the Year.

COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR
Men's
: Pete Early and Staff, Saint Anselm

It was a banner year for Saint Anselm Track & Field.  The Hawks women finished as runners-up for the first time during the indoor season and followed that up by doing it again outdoors.  Early, however, wins Coach of the Year for his work on the men's side in the outdoor season.  The Hawks fell just short of a second-place finish in New Haven during a program-best season.  This is just the third time in the last decade that a program other than SCSU has won Staff of the Year.

Women's: Melissa Stoll Funaro and Staff, SCSU

This is the fourth win for Stoll Funaro and the Owls staff, having first won in 2014 and 2015 and again in 2023.  The Owls completed the trifecta for the second time in program history this academic year, winning the cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field championships.
