NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. - The nation's leading scorer and history's top goalie were both honored by Northeast 10 field hockey coaches Thursday, as Adelphi junior Lana Mignon De Wet and Saint Michael's senior Joelle Cameron were named NE10 Player of the Year and NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year, respectively. De Wet is the second Panther to win the league's top honor and first since 2021. Cameron is the first Goalkeeper of the Year in Colchester since 2014.
De Wet exploded from the jump this fall, posting three multi-goal games in the first six of the season. She ended the regular season in the same fashion, posting hat tricks in the final two games. Between that, De Wet scored in all but six games, scoring as many as four goals in a single game. She added five assists for 49 total points. De Wet joins Kaylee Deleva as Panther NE10 Players of the Year.
The Pretoria, South Africa native is the third straight NE10 forward to lead the country in scoring and win Player of the Year, following Krista Dietz (Pace, 2023) and Annemartine Christis (SNHU, 2024).
Cameron's season, meanwhile, was also historic in Vermont. The keeper twice set the NCAA DII single-game saves record and finished with the single-season saves record as well. Cameron did all of that with a career-high 83.5 save percentage, ranking third nationally in save percentage and first in the conference. One of her two single-game records followed an overnight shift with the Saint Michael's Fire and Rescue Department where she was awake all night going on emergency calls.
The league's other major honors went to Saint Anselm's Millie Forster (Defensive Player of the Year), Assumption's Mieke Rentsch (Rookie of the Year) and Assumption's Annie Lahey (Coach of the Year). The win marks Lahey's third award, winning every other year since 2021.
Forster is the fourth Hawk to win Defensive Player of the Year and the first since Grace Michael in 2023. The English senior turned heads last fall by playing in the NCAA National Championship with a broken bone in her hand. Saint Anselm ranked second in the league in defense, allowing fewer than one goal per game. Outside of her defensive work, Forster also scored five goals.
Assumption, remarkably, wins Rookie of the Year for the first time in program history. The Germen Rentsch scored four goals and seven assists this fall. She had multi-goal outings vs Southern Connecticut and Franklin Pierce. Both goals were game-winners.
NE10 All-Conference teams and awards are voted on by each NE10 field hockey head coach. All-Conference teams consist of 12 student-athletes, nominated and voted on with no regard for position.
