Party Like It's 1995; Bentley Claims NE10 Regular Season

Falcons Top Seed in NE10 Championship, Earn Opening Round Bye

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. - For the first time since The Far Side was published and Post Malone's lifetime, the Bentley Falcons are the Northeast 10 Men's Soccer Regular Season Champions.  The lone unbeaten team in conference play, Bentley finished 7-0-2 and will have home field advantage throughout the NE10 Championship, earning a bye in the opening round as well.

Headlined by the top defense in the conference, Bentley's conceded only 10 goals all fall.  Graduate keeper Cam Hall continued to solidify himself as one of the top shot-stoppers in the country.  He's kept 85% of shots on goal out of the net for the Falcons.  Michael Haikal leads the Falcon offense with seven goals.  Bentley is now seeking the fourth NE10 Championship in school history and first since a three-peat from 1992 - 1994.  Waltham's warriors were upset in the semifinals in 1995 after claiming their most recent regular season crown.

By going undefeated, Bentley makes it four straight years the NE10 regular season has been claimed by a lossless team.  Good news for the Falcons is that the top seed has won the NE10 postseason crown every year since resuming play after the pandemic cancelled the 2020 season.

The league's two most recent champions follow as the No. 2 and No 3 seeds in this fall's bracket.  SNHU and Franklin Pierce each took only one league loss.  The Penmen fell to Bentley and the Ravens fell to the Penmen.  Buoyed by a hot start to the fall, SNHU's Philipp Herrmann was joined by Martin Fuentes to lead the conference in scoring with nine goals each.  Fuentes dropped a brace on Assumption in the season finale Wednesday.  Gui Avendano also scored nine goals for FPU, scoring once on Wednesday night to join the league leaders.

The most successful program in the history of Division II, Southern Connecticut draws the tournament's fifth seed, slotting in behind Adelphi at four, who earned the final home game of the opening round.

NE10 Championship action begins Saturday with the semis following next Wednesday, November 12, and the championship final occuring at the highest remaining seed on Saturday, November 15th.  All NE10 Championship matches will be broadcast on FloCollege.
