High Seeds Advance in First Round of NE10 Men's Soccer Championship

Bentley and SNHU to Host Semifinals.

A pair of goals by Felipe di Paola in just 48 minutes off the bench highlighted a big scoring day for No. 2-seeded Southern New Hampshire, as it defeated No. 7-seeded American International by a 4-1 margin in the first round of the NE10 Men's Soccer Championship. 

Martin Zapata and Philip Herrmann added goals of their own in the victory, which propels the Penmen to the semifinal round for the fifth consecutive season. SNHU outshot AIC over the course of the match, 17-7. 

Southern New Hampshire will host No. 3-seeded Franklin Pierce on Wednesday. The Penmen, ranked No. 6 nationally, are unbeaten at Ouellette Stadium in their last 15 matches. 

No. 4 Adelphi 4, No. 5 Southern Connecticut 2

Facing multiple one-goal deficits on Saturday night, it was No. 4-seeded Adelphi that scored three unanswered goals and earned a comeback win over No. 5-seeded Southern Connecticut in the first round of the NE10 Men's Soccer Championship. 

Southern Connecticut's Ryad Benmessaoud scored in just the second minute of the game to give the Owls an early lead, but Adelphi would score four of the next five goals - including tallies from Matthew Murphy, Rory Duggan and Joseph Blackton. In the 82nd minute of the game, an own goal by SCSU gave Adelphi the lead - 3-2 - and the Panthers scored again in the 90th on their way to victory. 

Adelphi will travel to play top-seeded Bentley on Wednesday. 

No. 3 Franklin Pierce 2, No. 6 Saint Michael's 0

Guillermo Avendano gave No. 3-seeded Franklin Pierce the lead, while Dani Almeida provided the insurance, as the Ravens earned a 2-0 win over No. 6-seeded Saint Michael's on Saturday night at Sodexo Field in the first round of the NE10 Men's Soccer Championship. 

In a game with limited chances (14 shots total), Franklin Pierce made the most of their opportunities - with Avendano scoring in the 11th minute and Almeida in the 64th. Goalkeeper David Skorodumov made a pair of saves in the shutout win for the Ravens. 

Franklin Pierce will play at No. 2-seeded Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday. The two teams have combined to win the last four NE10 Championship titles (SNHU in 2024, Franklin Pierce 2021-23).
