Home Teams Advance to Semifinals of NE10 Women's Soccer Championship

Top Four Seeds Will Play on Thursday.

In the 84th minute of a tied game, Franklin Pierce's Olivia Crespo crossed the ball into the box, McKenna Maguire added the pressure and the ball was knocked in by a Pace defender - giving the Ravens a 2-1 lead, which would serve as the final score on Sunday in the first round of the NE10 Women's Soccer Championship at Sodexo Field. 

No. 2-seeded Franklin Pierce also received a goal from Claudia Peirce in the 60th minute, giving the Ravens a lead before Pace's Meredith Klosek tied the game in the 83rd minute. The Setters, the No. 7 seed in the NE10 Championship, were outshot 23-6 - and it was their goalkeeper Anna Fiore who kept them in the game with a remarkable 11-save performance. 

Franklin Pierce, the reigning NE10 champion, will host No. 3-seeded Saint Michael's on Thursday in the semifinal round. 

No. 4 Adelphi 2, No. 5 Southern New Hampshire 0

Madison Apicella broke a scoreless tie in the 76th minute, while Crystal Knoell added an insurance goal in the 80th minute, to help No. 4-seeded Adelphi to a 2-0 win over No. 5-seeded Southern New Hampshire in the first round of the NE10 Women's Soccer Championship on Sunday at Motamed Field.  

Adelphi dominated control of the game - outshooting Southern New Hampshire by a 22-2 margin. Penmen goalkeeper Claudia Keith made four saves on Sunday, but eventually the Panthers capitalized on the attack to win the game and advance to the semifinal round on Thursday. 

The Panthers will visit top-seeded Saint Anselm on Thursday. 

No. 3 Saint Michael's 1, No. 6 Bentley 0

Scarlett Brookes continued her excellent season on Sunday, as her goal in the 51st minute propelled No. 3-seeded Saint Michael's to a 1-0 win over No. 6-seeded Bentley in the first round of the NE10 Women's Soccer Championship at Duffy Field. 

Brookes' goal, assisted by both Sarah Gormley and Delaney Kleinman, helped the Purple Knights advance to their first NE10 Championship semifinal since 1989. The Saint Michael's defense allowed Bentley only one shot in the contest - and no shots on goal. 

Saint Michael's will look to earn its first-ever trip to the NE10 Women's Soccer Championship on Thursday, when it travels to play No. 2-seeded Franklin Pierce.
