No. 1 Pace 19, No. 8 Southern New Hampshire 4  Box Score

The one seed in the 2025 Northeast-10 (NE10) Women's Lacrosse Tournament, your Pace Setters, hosted the quarterfinal round of the postseason event versus the eight seed, Southern New Hampshire Univeristy (SNHU), Saturday afternoon at Northwell Stadium.

The Blue and Gold begins their trek back into the championship round when they tackled the Penmen 19-4 in the day backed by Maddie Schubert's season high scoring outing.

Here's What Happened:

  • The Penmen caged the first goal of the contest for the immediate lead over the hosts, however, Schubert found the back of the net soon after to equalize the score, 1-1, and Gigi Genovese gave the squad the 2-1 advantage. Once SNHU tied it up once again at two with a man-up opportunity, Laura Luikart gave the go-ahead goal, 3-2, and that would be the push they needed to maintain their lead for the remainder of the day.
  • After the opening stanza, the hosts featured a 6-2 lead and a low scoring second led to a 6-3 halftime score with the Setters out in front.
  • Pace's offensive push in the third propelled them to victory when they caged eight and held the Penmen to one. The Blue and Gold were paced by Schubert (3), Mackenzie Carita (3), and Luikart (2) and on the defensive end, the team held the Penmen to just three shots, two being on goal in which Samantha Tanguay made the stop.
  • The final frame was scoreless for SNHU. Carita, Schubert, and Katie Long piled on the final three points of the opening NE10 postseason contest for the 19-4 victory and to advance into the semifinal round.
Box Score Insights:
  • Schubert led all scorers with a season-high of six goals while Carita led in points with seven on five goals and two assists.
  • Genovese tallied two goals and three assists for five points and Luikart caged four goals.
  • Alyssa Wolf led on the defensive end with three caused turnovers and Sasha Kulo remains dominant in the draws with nine.
  • Tanguay recorded the win in cage with eight saves.

No. 2 Adelphi 22, No. 7 Southern Connecticut 9     Box Score

A 10-goal first quarter aided a dominating 22-9 win for the no. 2 Adelphi University women's lacrosse program over no. 7 Southern Connecticut State University, in the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Saturday.

After the Owls (10-9) appeared to set the tone by scoring on their first possession, the Panthers quickly changed the outlook, netting eight unanswered goals to ignite the Motamed Field crowd. Sophomore Julia Foppiano controlled the first 15 minutes, totaling seven points, as she and Ashley Kolomechuk proved to be thorns in the side of the SCSU defense en route to a 10-goal opening period.

From there, the Panthers kept the momentum rolling. Payson Hedges went on her own 3-0 run to extend the Brown and Gold's lead to 11.

Soon after, Alexandra Leggio and Marielle Colalillo each tallied their second goals of the game, putting an exclamation mark on the first half and sending the teams into intermission with Adelphi commanding a 15-3 advantage.

Out of the break, the home team stayed in stride, with a Rita Sefransky goal kicking things off. Colalillo then recorded two more tallies to cap a five-goal quarter, sending the Panthers into the final fifteen minutes with a comfortable lead.

Although the visitors outscored the Brown and Gold 4-2 in the final frame, it was too little, too late, as the home squad had built a lead too great to overcome.

No. 5 Saint Anselm 10, No. 4 Bentley 9   Box Score

The Hawks came out swinging early and often. They came out with a 5-0 start with the help of two goals by Ayla McDermod in the first 11 minutes. Saint Anselm would fire twelve shots to Bentley's five in the first quarter. Finally, with just 0:09 left in the first quarter, Bentley would get on the board with a free position goal by Amanda Davis.

Lucy Mawn started the second quarter scoring for Saint Anselm with a goal three minutes in to make it 6-1. Bentley would come back with aggression with two more goals by Amanda Davis, one by Maeve Johnson, and one by Natalia Dutkewych. McDermod would answer with another free position goal for Saint Anselm with just over a minute to go. Saint Anselm led 7-5 at the half, but Bentley had put the pressure on with a 13-5 shot advantage in the second quarter, and the host Falcons were right back in the game.

While Bentley would score the first goal of the second half to make it 7-6, the Hawks answered the challenge and won the quarter, with goals by Kendra Sabotka and Julia Rowley to make it 9-6. Despite two failed clears in the first and third quarter, Saint Anselm led in shots, draw controls, free positions, turnovers, saves, and ground balls heading into the fourth quarter.

Despite scoring to make it 10-6, and seemingly every stat on their side, Saint Anselm had to dig in to complete the road win over the higher-seeded Bentley. The Falcons would score twice just two minutes apart to make it 10-8 with still five minutes to go. The Saint Anselm defense held strong allowing just two shots the rest of the way, and despite one going in as the final second wound down, the Saint Anselm Hawks prevailed on the road to win 10-9.

Ayla McDermod led the Hawks in goals, and was the lone Saint Anselm player with multiple goals. Alyssa Hill added a goal, two assists, and a ground ball to light up the stat sheet. Elizabeth Driscoll made 12 saves, and Saint Anselm needed every one of them as they move on to the NE10 Semifinals.
