No. 4 Pace 5, No. 1 Florida Southern 12
Box Score
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Despite being deadlocked at the half, the No. 4 Pace Setters couldn't overcome the top remaining seed in the NCAA DII Women's Lacrosse Championship Thursday night, falling to Florida Southern, 12-5.
The Mocs used a 5-1 run in the third quarter to pull away and never let the Setters back in the game. Florida Southern started out to a 2-0 lead, but Pace fought back early, tying the game and eventually taking a 3-2 advantage. Mackenzie Carita scored back-to-back goals within two minutes for that one-goal lead. Carita and All-American Marissa Doty each finished with two goals. Jamie Petrullo scored Pace's fifth.
Freshman keeper Camryn Smith made five saves starting in her first Final Four appearance.
The loss for the Setters caps a 16-win season that saw them reach the NE10 Championship final, win the East Region and advance to the national semifinals.
