MANSFIELD, Mass. - Franklin Pierce and Pace were both selected to play in the East Regional of the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, as announced on the Selection Show on Sunday night.
Franklin Pierce (31-19, 20-5 NE10), the No. 5 seed, will open NCAA play against No. 4 Goldey-Beacom. Pace (28-20, 12-12 NE10), the NE10 champion, earned its way into the regional by winning the conference title on Sunday afternoon against Southern New Hampshire. The Setters, the No. 6 seed, will start against No. 3 Felician.
Regional play will begin on Thursday, May 15th, and go through Sunday, May 18th. The Super Regionals are the following weekend from Thursday, May 22nd, and Saturday, May 24th. The Championship finals are from Friday, May 30th, to Saturday, June 7th, at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
For the 20th straight season, Franklin Pierce has qualified for a spot in the East Regional, including the last nine under head coach Mike Chambers. For Pace, it is the second time in the past three seasons that it has won the NE10 Championship and the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Regional.
Franklin Pierce will be playing at Jefferson, while Pace travels to Wilmington (Del.) when regional games begin later this week. For a Championship timeline, please see below.
