NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Seven Northeast 10 Conference baseball players have been selected to the Futures League All-Star Game, set for next Tuesday at Polar Park in Worcester, home of the WooSox.
Saint Michael's star Sam Cavossa is batting .379 and ranks second in the league in hitting. The outfielder will represent the local Vermont Lake Monsters. AIC slugger Leandro Guevara will also appear in Worcester, holding a .315 average on the summer with 16 RBI for Vermont.
The Nashua Silver Knights boast three NE10 student-athletes having all-star summers. Andrew Chenevert is 5-0, leading the FCBL in wins, with a 3.19 ERA after pitching for St. Anselm in the spring. He's teammates this summer with Pace's Rob Gilchrist and his 1.35 ERA and AIC's Cole Patterson -- who's up to 19 stolen bases during the season.
Southern Connecticut State boasts the two remaining all-stars. One player is returning while the other is new. Brennan Staubley is hitting .286 with 16 RBI for New Britain while Cody Heselton has a 3.11 ERA in five starts for Westfield. The Starfires' hurler is headed to New Haven this school year after pitching for Marist (DI) this past spring.
