WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University field hockey captain
Gracie Moore (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) has been selected for the inaugural Allstate NACDA Good Works Team (Fall) by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
Allstate and NACDA recognized 20 student-athletes for their dedication to leadership, service and community impact. Moore was the only field hockey player to earn the prestigious honor and one of only four student-athletes from a Division II institution.
Moore serves as a student leader in Athletes in Action (AIA) and Cru, conducting weekly meetings and Bible study groups to help students grow in faith and adjust to college life. Through Cru's partnership with Filter of Hope, she led a mission trip to the Dominican Republic, distributing nearly 100 water filters to more than 700 people in need, and connected with local churches. Moore also participates in the children's ministry at her Boston church, where she provides meals, reads stories and leads activities, and has volunteered at youth football camps.
Moore, who recently returned from the Falcons' preseason trip to Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, was Bentley's top scorer last season, with seven goals and two assists. She was selected for All-Northeast 10 third team accolades and the marketing major also earned Academic All-Northeast 10 honors.
"Gracie is the definition of a servant leader," said Bentley head field hockey coach
Jessica Spencer. "She always puts others first, leads by example and I am so grateful she chose to come to Bentley University and be part of our field hockey program.
"I can't think of a player more deserving of this prestigious honor than Gracie. She has made an incredible impact on the team and the entire Bentley community over the past three years."
After learning she had been selected, Moore said "Receiving this honor means so much to me, and I am incredibly grateful. As a Christian, I believe we are called to serve and show the love of Jesus to others. This award reflects the values I try to live out daily, both on and off the field. To be recognized not only for my efforts in field hockey but in my everyday life is truly amazing, and I am so grateful.
"Community service has become a huge part of my life, shaped by how I was raised and my faith. My parents taught me from an early age that serving others is one of the most important things you can do. Whether big or small, these acts show God's love. When I'm helping others and seeing the smiles on their faces, it genuinely fills me with joy. My faith inspires me to live this out in everything I do, and community service is one of the ways I try to put that into practice."
"This team represents the best of what student-athletes can achieve beyond their sport," commented ESPN's Holly Rowe. "These student-athletes are transforming their communities through genuine service and leadership, spotlighting college athletics at its most powerful and purposeful form."
Elizabeth Brady, the chief marketing, customer and communications officer for Allstate, said "This inaugural year of the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team revealed a generation of purpose-driven leaders who are committed to uplifting others. We celebrate their stories of service and impact in communities."
"The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team (Fall) represents a diverse and talented cross-section of student-athletes from all divisions and regions of the country who are making a difference outside of their sport," praised NACDA Chief Executive Officer Pat Manak.
