WORCESTER, Mass. - The second day of the Northeast 10 Conference Swimming & Diving Championship was highlighted by three record swims and four NCAA B-Cuts - as the Bridgeport men and Southern Connecticut women extended their leads at the WPI Sports & Recreation Center. Bridgeport's Sultanbek Azat continued his dominant start to the NE10 Championship by setting a new record in the 500 Free, swimming it in a time of 4:26.75. It was his third record swim of the Championship in just two days - and his second B-Cut. His teammate Christian Toussi set a new record in the 100 Back, as part of the 400 Medley Relay, with a time of 48.52. It was also a big day for the Adelphi men - especially with how the night finished. The Panthers set a new record in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:17.96 - as Ryan Kakimseit, Connor Singer, Jake Chee-A-Tow and Tristan Weingarten swam to the victory. Earlier in the day during prelims, Valerii Pidhoretskyy qualified for a B-Cut in the 50 Free (20.25). Bridgeport holds a sizable lead in the team standings with 390.5 points. Bentley is second with 292 points and Adelphi is third with 283.5 points. Southern Connecticut earned three gold medals on the women's side Friday night, led by Jasmine Uricchio in the 500 Free (5:03.94) and Molly Kennedy in the 50 Free (23.45). Kennedy, who successfully defended her 50 Free gold from a year ago, earned a B-Cut in the process. In the final swim of the night, the Owls bested Felician by less than a second in the 400 Medley Relay (3:52.17) - as the quartet of Abby Lyons, Allyson Quitos, Julia Pitchell and Kennedy earned first place. Southern Connecticut has 396 points as a team, while Bentley is second with 293 points and Felician is third with 260. In men's 3-meter diving, Staten Island's Yubal Parra won with a score of 481.05. In women's 1-meter diving, Pace's Caroline Ranno won with a score of 351.50. The third day of the NE10 Championship begins Saturday morning at 10:15 a.m. with prelims.
