  • The championship for Bridgeport comes after the program had a six year hiatus and in its first season as a member of the NE10.
  • Bridgeport set eight NE10 Championship records and swam 10 NCAA B-Cut times.
  • In total, 12 men's championship records were broken and B-Cuts were recorded across 11 different events.
  • Finishing second for the second straight season, Adelphi matched its best finish.
  • This is the first NE10 Championship won by an affiliate member of the conference since LIU Post captured the football title in 2018.

Recap from Bridgeport Athletics

WORCESTER, Mass. – A season for the history books. In their first year as members of the Northeast 10 Conference and first varsity campaign since 2019, the University of Bridgeport men's swimming and diving team captured the 2026 NE10 Championship on Sunday night in Worcester, Mass. The Purple Knights put together a dominant four-day performance, piling up 11 conference titles and 24 total medals while winning the team crown by a commanding 183.5-point margin over second-place Adelphi.

The Purple Knights closed out another dominant night with a series of record-breaking and podium-sweeping performances on Sunday.

In the 1650, the Purple Knights mirrored their earlier 500-free success by going 1-2-3, led by Sultanbek Azat's third individual NE10 title of the weekend. Azat touched the wall in a championship-record time of 15:40.62—his third record of the meet—while Pacome Sidelskisecured silver in 15:49.03 and Ryan Wall rounded out the sweep in 16:06.50.

Bridgeport continued to rack up points in the 200-back, where Brady Stangl led the way with a fourth-place finish in 1:52.68. Noah Jonesadded an eighth-place showing (1:57.87), and Brandon George followed in 13th (1:59.68).

The 100-free proved historic, as Christian Toussi claimed his third NE10 crown of the weekend, tying Adelphi's Valerii Pidhoretskyy for gold with identical, record-breaking times of 44.92. Camilo Villalba Vera joined Toussi on the podium in third at 45.64, while Matt Burrows(46.67) and Aaron Williamson (47.80) added valuable team points.

Jurica Dragun captured his second conference title of the weekend in the 200-breast, winning with a time of 2:00.18, and Maximiliano Pedrozo Sevila chipped in with an eighth-place finish.

In the 200-fly, Ignacy Olownia paced a strong Bridgeport contingent with a fourth-place swim of 1:52.00, followed by Darcy Higgins (sixth), Dillan Salgado (seventh), and Giancarlo Zamora (eighth) to give UB four top-eight scorers.

The night fittingly concluded with more gold, as Dragun, Azat, Villalba Vera, and Toussi teamed up to win the 400-free relay in a championship-record 3:00.99, further cementing a sensational performance for the Purple Knights.

Following the meet, Azat was named as the NE10's Most Outstanding Swimmer after finishing the four-day event with three individual championships, two relay titles and five new championship records.
