Assumption Claims Top Seed in NE10 Ice Hockey Championship

First Round Scheduled for Tuesday

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - For the second time in three seasons, Assumption has won the Northeast 10 Conference regular season title and will be the top seed in the NE10 Ice Hockey Championship - as the league office announced the full postseason schedule on Saturday night. 

Assumption (21-8-2, 15-3-2 NE10), winners of 14 of its last 16 games, looks for its third NE10 Championship title in the past five seasons under head coach Michael Looney. The Greyhounds have the top-scoring offense in the league, led by prolific point scorer Jonathan Surrette, who leads all collegiate hockey players across all NCAA divisions with 58 points. 

Saint Michael's (16-11-3, 11-7-2 NE10), the reigning NE10 champion, earned the No. 2 seed via head-to-head tiebreaker with Saint Anselm, clinching a first-round bye along with Assumption. Both teams will host semifinal games on Saturday, February 28. 

All six teams qualified for the NE10 Championship. First round action is set for Tuesday night, as No. 3 Saint Anselm will host No. 6 Southern New Hampshire and No. 4 Post welcomes No. 5 Franklin Pierce. 

The NE10 Ice Hockey Championship final is scheduled for Saturday, March 7. Every game of the Championship will be hosted by the higher seeded team.
