Five Schools Earn Indoor Track & Field Year-End Honors

SCSU Leads with Five Honorees After Winning Both Titles

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The Northeast 10 demonstrated the conference's indoor track & field depth this week, honoring student-athletes from five member schools with postseason major awards to cap off the 2025-26 season.  Awards were nominated and voted on by the league's head coaches.

Southern Connecticut, which won both the men's and women's conference indoor championship titles, led the way with five honorees, including both coaching staffs taking Coaching Staff of the Year.  For John Wallin and crew it is their 12th win and third straight.  It's the first win for women's coach Melissa Stoll Funaro since 2014, and the second of her career.

After dominating during the fall cross country season, Courtney Henchcliffe rolled that success into the indoor.  Henchcliffe won both the 3K and 5K titles indoor and earned Most Outstanding Track performer of the championship.  For that, and the rest of her season, Henchcliffe was named overall Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.  Henchcliffe follows Hannah Caiola in winning the award, marking the first back-to-back wins by SCSU since the award began in 2014.

Rookie Colton Sallum, one of the top finishers at the 2025 cross country championship, also won the 3K and 5K indoor to claim championship Most Outstanding Performer.  The league's coaches also named him the conference's Track Rookie of the Year.

Thrower Belle Smith is the final Owl to be honored postseason, claiming Field Athlete of the Year -- a first for an SCSU woman since 2018.

The only double winner of the indoor season was Adelphi's Jabari Holder, the conference's lone rep on the men's side at the NCAA Championship.  Holder won both the Long Jump and Triple Jump at the TRACK at new balance during the NE10 Championship and was voted by the league's coaches as the Field Athlete and Field Rookie of the Year.  Holder is the first men's rookie to also win the overall "of the year" award since AIC's Leakey Kipkosegei won Track Athlete and Track Rookie in 2016.  Nobody had ever won Field Athlete and Field Rookie in school history.

The men's Track Athlete of the Year also made history.  Saint Anselm sophomore Logan Montgomery, the 2025 Track Rookie of the Year, became the first such winner to go on to win Track Athlete of the Year in their next season, showing continued progression at an elite level.  Montgomery won the 200 and 400 at the NE10 Championship.

American International and Southern New Hampshire are the other two institutions to receive honors, sweeping women's rookie trophies.  AIC's Sydnee Collins was named Track Rookie of the Year, the sixth Rookie of the Year in AIC history, tying UMass-Lowell for most in NE10 women's history.  SNHU's Lindy Moreland was named Field Rookie of the Year, a first for a Penmen female.
