Releases from Saint Anselm and SCSU Athletics
NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Sophomore Logan Montgomery was announced as the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Track Athlete of the Year on Monday afternoon, marking the first time in program history that a Saint Anselm College men's track and field athlete has earned the regional honor.
Last week, Montgomery also became the first Hawk to be awarded the Northeast 10 Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Year following first place finishes in the 200-meter and 400-meter races at NE10 Indoor Championships in February.
Montgomery took home gold in the 200m and 400m dashes at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, setting personal records in both events by posting times of 21.24 and 47.28. Both first place finishes at NE10 indoors and his 60-meter dash time of 6.93 at the Gordon Kelly Invitational back in January earned the sophomore All-Region recognition, announced by the USTFCCCA last week, alongside eight of his teammates.
Regional award winners across all eight regions are determined by the USTFCCCA member coaches who cast votes following the conclusion of the 2026 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships in Virginia.
Meanwhile, Southern Connecticut picked up top coaching honors across the region with John Wallin and Melissa Stoll Funaro being named the Coaches of the Year on the mens and womens sides respectively. Brian Nill was named the top assistant for the SCSU women's program. Nill focuses on the distance runners for the Owls.
