SCSU Selected Atop Outdoor Track & Field Coaches' Poll

Assumption and Saint Anselm Earn Votes in Second Place

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Fresh off the heels of winning the Northeast 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship, the Southern Connecticut State Owls were selected by the conference head coaches to sweep the outdoor titles as well.  SCSU received all 15 available first-place votes between the two polls.

The Owls are looking to three-peat their sweep, having won both the men's and women's championships each of the last two seasons.  The men have won each championship since American International stood atop the podium in 2016.  The Yellow Jacket win that spring is the lone title the Owls have not claimed in conference history.  The most recent team other than Southern Connecticut to win on the women's side was Southern New Hampshire in 2023.  The consecutive wins for SCSU were their first titles since 2015.

Among SCSU's key contributors this spring are distance runner Jonathan Volpe (a two-time cross-country champion), indoor Rookie of the Year Colton Sallum, All-American sprinter Hannah Caiola, NE10 champion thrower Belle Smith and two-time captian Celine Bozukluian.

Saint Anselm's women are rolling off the best indoor finish in program history, just three years into the team's existance.  A second place finish outdoors, as predicted, would mark a Hawks record as well.

Notable this season is the addition of a squad from Saint Michael's College on both the men's and women's side.  The Purple Knights are the first new team from Colchester since SMC added women's ice hockey in 2000 and will feature familiar names from the cross-country season, including all-conference names Fran Peterson and Jersey Miller.
