MANSFIELD, Mass - For the fifth time in program history, and the first time since 2015, the SNHU Penmen are NE10 men's soccer regular season champions. The Manchester, N.H. team holds homefield advantage throughout its upcoming life in the NE10 Championship.
With 23 points, the Penmen held a two-game lead in the standings at the end of conference play, topping New Haven and Franklin Pierce for second and third. Adelphi was awarded the final NE10 quartefinal home game. With only seven teams qualifying, SNHU earns a first-round bye directly to next Wednesday's semifinals.
The SNHU title marks the end of a three-year Franklin Pierce run that also saw the Ravens win the NE10 Championship titles. That followed four straight Adelphi titles and three consecutive SNHU wins in what has been a streaky conference picture. Eight teams have won the league's postseason championship over that same span.
The Penmen were dominant in 2024, starting 7-0 in league play and finishing as the only unbeaten after two draws with New Haven and Saint Anselm to close the schedule. Most notabley, SNHU defeated Franklin Pierce on October 8th, ending the longest unbeaten streak in NCAA DII men's soccer history.
New Haven's No. 2 seed in the field marks a program record. The Chargers finished 5-2-2, winning at Adelphi on the season's final day to edge past FPU in the standings. UNH has never won an NE10 Championship match in the school's only two previous appearances.
As for Franklin Pierce, the Ravens have an active 11-match unbeaten streak in the NE10 Championship, only being eliminated on PK's in 2019. Their last defeat came to SNHU in 2018.
All matches of the NE10 Championship will be broadcast live on FloCollege, with the quarterfinals being part of the league's Freeview Saturday on November 9th.
