Each week during the academic year, the NE10 honors
Athletes of the Week for all of its 24 sponsored sports while they are in season. Faces in the Crowd shines a spotlight on outstanding on-field performances that didn't earn Athlete of the Week recognition, while also highlighting academic or community efforts from student-athletes across the league.
Below are this week's
NE10 Faces in the Crowd.
COOPER WILSON
School: Saint Michael's
Sport: Lacrosse
Cooper Wilson became the top face-off man and ground ball vacuum in Saint Michael's history last week. Wilon has 508 faceoff wins and 310 ground balls as a senior.
DAWSON MONTESA
School: Adelphi
Sport: Baseball
Montesa struck out 13 more batters last week vs. Pace. He now ranks sixth nationally in strikeouts and has K'd at least nine in each game pitched this season.
KATHERINE HICKEY
School: Franklin Pierce
Sport: Lacrosse
Hickey made nine saves vs. D'Youville last week, but also raked up eight ground balls for the highest total in the NE10 this season. Only nine players (three goalies) across Division II have had a better GB haul than Hickey in a single game this season.
KYLIE DUCHARME
School: Bentley
Sport: Basketball
DuCharme won East Region MVP this week, scoring 25, 25 and 15 points in Bentley's first three games of the NCAA Championship. The run includes two of her four 20-point performances this season and her top two games of the year.
MAGGIE KLOSTER
School: AIC
Sport: Lacrosse
Kloster's 18 saves matched AIC's 18 goals in a win over Caldwell last week, giving the sophomore one of the top save-performance days in the NE10 this spring.
PATRICK PURCELL
School: Bentley
Sport: Baseball
Purcell had one of the best single games in the NE10 this season, going 5-for-5 vs. Georgian Court on March 11th. He drove in two runs.
SEAN COTE
School: Franklin Pierce
Sport: Lacrosse
Cote was huge in net last week. The keeper made 20 saves in allowing just nine goals to No. 12 Bentley, giving the Ravens a chance for what would have been a massive upset. He then made 15 saves against Domincan in FPU's first win of the year.
STEVEN BETTY
School: St. Anselm
Sport: Baseball
Betty has three hits this season and had three in his prior career before last week. Turns out two of his hits just so happen to be triples in the same game last week vs, Slippery Rock, leading the NE10 in three-baggers thus far. Betty drove in three runs with those hits.
TAYESHAWN CUNNINGHAM-PEMBERTON
School: Assumption
Sport: Basketball
The MVP of the NCAA East Regional, the sophomore scored 24, 19 and 14 points over three games in Buffalo. He averaged double his season scoring average over the three-game-bracket. He was efficient too, doing all his damage on only 22 shots.
ABOUT THE NE10
The NE10 is an association of 11 diverse institutions serving student-athletes across 24 NCAA Division II sports. Together we build brilliant futures by embracing the journey of every student-athlete.
Each year, 4,500 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 24 sports, making the NE10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the NE10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
