NE10 Faces in the Crowd: New Haven Pitchers on a Roll

Gatti and Carroll picking up right where they left off

Each week during the academic year, the NE10 honors Athletes of the Week for all of its 24 sponsored sports while they are in season. Faces in the Crowd shines a spotlight on outstanding on-field performances that didn't earn Athlete of the Week recognition, while also highlighting academic or community efforts from student-athletes across the league.

Below are this week's NE10 Faces in the Crowd.

ALEXA BORINO
School
: Pace
Sport: Softball

Borino hit for the cycle in the first four innings against Dominican this past weekend.  She led off Pace in the bottom of the first with a home run and then tripled, singled and doubled over the next four frames.

ANDIE ANDERSON
School
: Franklin Pierce
Sport: Softball

Anderson is a perfect 20-20 in stolen bases this spring, leading the NE10 and swiping a bag in 13 of the 20 games Franklin Pierce has played this season.  Anderson is also second in the conference in runs scored.

COOPER WILSON
School
: Saint Michael's
Sport: Lacrosse

Wilson won 78.4% of his faceoffs last week, going 29-for-37 with 15 ground balls and a goal. In an 11-8 win on Tuesday over Frostburg State, which entered the day leading Division II in faceoff winning percentage (71.9%), Wilson finished 12-for-17 at the X against the No. 1 FOGO in NCAA Division I, II and III men's lacrosse (82.5%) and the 11th-ranked Division II FOGO (66.7%). He added five ground balls and a goal. In a 9-8 loss at Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, Wilson went 17-for-20 with 10 ground balls. During the week, he became the seventh active Division II player with 500 career faceoff wins, and the lone member of that list from the NE10.

JORDYN RESETAR
School
: SNHU
Sport: Softball

Resetar is believed to be the first softball player in program history with a three homer game.  She accomplished the feat on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader at Molloy University and she just missed hitting a fourth homer.  Resetar finished her day 7-for-10 with three homers, three doubles, and seven runs batted in.  Her three homers also rank her for the NE10 lead.

JOE PELLEGRINO
School
: Adelphi
Sport: Baseball

Pellegrino went 5-for-15 last week, crushing three home runs and driving in six runs for the Panthers.  He had a five-RBI game against Assumption, his second time hitting that mark this season.

JULIA BARBATO
School
: Saint Michael's
Sport: Lacrosse

Barbato forced an NE10-best six caused turnovers against D'Youville last week.  One of those CT's led directly to a Saint Michael's goal in the next ten seconds, critical in the Purple Knights securing a one-goal win.

LIAM CARROLL and MICHAEL GATTI
School
: New Haven
Sport: Baseball

Two of the top pitchers in the NE10 last spring, Carroll has allowed 12 hits in 24 innings this year and posted a 1,50 ERA.   Gatti tossed a seven-inning, nine-hit shutout of Saint Michael's this weekend.  He's struck out double-figure batters in three of his four starts this season.

NOAH GIBSON
School
: Adelphi
Sport: Lacrosse

No stranger to the NE10, the St. Rose transfer scored eight goals for Adelphi in the first half last week against AIC.  The eight goals were one off an Adelphi program record.  He followed that up with four points vs. Bentley and has scored 30 times this year.

PAUL GREENE
School
: SNHU
Sport: Basketball

Greene earned National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) East All-District Second Team honors this week after previously claiming the NE10's Most Outstanding Player of the Championship.  Greene was the most dominant rebounder in the NE10 all season.
