Women's Basketball 3/8/2026 10:56:15 PM SCSU to Host Women's Basketball East Regional Four NE10 Teams Qualify NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - After winning its first Northeast 10 Conference Championship title since 2007, Southern Connecticut has earned the top seed and hosting duties for the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball East Regional - as announced during the Selection Show on Sunday night. Southern Connecticut is one of four NE10 programs to be selected. Joining the Owls in the East Regional are Bentley (No. 2), Assumption (No. 4) and Saint Michael's (No. 8). It is the seventh consecutive season that the NE10 has produced at least four women's basketball programs in the NCAA Championship field. Southern Connecticut (24-5, 16-2 NE10) claimed its third NE10 Championship title in program history on Sunday, defeating top-seeded Bentley on the road, 59-50. With the win, the Owls punched their ticket to the NCAA Championship for the ninth time - and for the second straight year under head coach Kate Lynch. The last time Southern Connecticut hosted the East Region in 2007, it went on to win the NCAA Division II National Championship. The East Regional dates are March 13, 14 and 16 at the James Moore Field House. Southern Connecticut will open play against Saint Michael's, Assumption will play No. 5-seeded Holy Family, and Bentley meets No. 7-seeded Mercy. The Division II Tournament consists of 64 teams at eight regional sites. The NCAA Elite Eight will be played at the UMPC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh, Pa., from March 24-28.
