HOOKSETT, N.H. — Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi men's tennis team were back on the court on Friday afternoon, hunting for the program's third straight Northeast 10 championship.
In the all-important doubles portion of the day, First Team selection Andrea Albiero and Viktor Hockl won their No. 1 flight in just 28 minutes, 6-2. Assumption was not far behind, winning the No. 2 match and knotting up the score. Spyridon Papageorgiou and Leo Silverston were locked in a battle in the final doubles match, taking the Greyhounds to a tiebreak. The Panthers were able to pull out a 7-6 (7-5) victory to give Adelphi the first point of the day.
Hockl stayed hot, putting the Panthers up 2-0 after a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2. NE10 Player of the Year Louca Bertone earned 6-3, 6-0 victory just minutes later.
Assumption rallied, taking the first set in three of the remaining matches. Silverston took set one in the No. 6 match, and the race was on.
